Description

Madison Gives United Campaign
Greg Bramwell, relationship manager in the Central Indiana Region for STAR Financial Bank, heads a team of volunteer leaders in outreach across the county to raise $755,000 to support United Way’s work of helping every person in our community thrive. The 2019 United Way of Madison County (UWMC) campaign officially launches at noon September 17 with a 24-hour giving event online at www.madisongivesunited.org. The Virtual Campaign Kick-Off is called Madison Gives United Day.

“We’ve been working to create a fun online – and offline – experience that connects with more people in more ways,” said Bramwell. The site currently shows a countdown to the launch and features ways people can get involved prior to the event. Community leaders and businesses have contributed videos and sponsored prizes or special challenges to share during the event. Businesses have also signed on to display banners on their buildings or messages on their digital signs or websites, including www.heraldbulletin.com.

The organization will share donor-submitted photos and videos with participants encouraged to wear Live United t-shirts or host 1-day fundraisers in support of Madison Gives United Day. People are also encouraged to share their participation on social media using #GiveWhereYouLive, a campaign kick-off photo frame, and to follow @unitedwaymadisoncounty on Facebook or @UnitedWayMadCo on Twitter.

“This is a new format, but United Way has always gathered the community together to launch our campaign and focus on the impact of working together to create positive change,” said UWMC President Nancy Vaughan. “Our goal is to use the power of virtual connection to engage people in the fight for the health, education and financial stability of every person in our community.”

The campaign site provides an overview of the key services offered through United Way:

  • Born Learning Connection that supports a multitude of ways to help young children learn and enter school ready to succeed;
  • Covering Kids & Families that works to provide everyone access to healthcare;
  • Safety net and crisis supports including 211, the 24-hour information line, and financial assistance for basic needs;
  • Thrive Network that works intensively with people who are striving to achieve financial stability through increased earnings, financial education, job training and more.
  • Volunteer opportunities to be more directly involved with the work.
The organization’s 2018 annual report details the investments and outcomes of activities over the past year and is available online at www.unitedwaymadisonco.org/ annual-reports.
