Description

Join us for a Ribbon Cutting Expansion and Grand Opening of Green Tire Reclamation's Metal Salvage Division.

Adding metal salvaging to Green Tire's recycling efforts will bring options to the community for metal recycling and new jobs. The growth of this Madison County small business has been nurtured and supported by many community and business leaders, and a lot of hard/dirty/tedious work by regular folks in the community.

Light food and refreshments will be provided.

ABOUT:
A tire recycling business will expand its recycling capabilities by adding scrap metal recycling. Dan and Diana McKenzie, owners of Green Tire Reclamation at 2506 Fairview have been building their tire recycling company for the past three years. They now service most of central Indiana with primary markets in Marion, Madison, and Delaware counties.

“It has been a roller coaster ride of learning and growing in business. It certainly hasn’t been all roses, but we believe in what we are doing and it was a natural transition to add scrap metal recycling.” Dan and Diana said. They further stated, “We could not have made it this far without the support of our local government and other organizations. The Mayor and his office, Rob Sparks with the CED, Greg Winkler and his team, Frank Owens and others in zoning along with all the office staff for the Chamber of Commerce and Flagship Enterprises.”

The tire recycling process they use is unique because they pull the metal bead wire out of every passenger and light truck tire that goes through their system. There are also tires that come in on rims. It only makes sense that they recycle their own metal. Along with the metals from the tire recycling they will be buying scrap metal from the general public and businesses. “For now we are taking a similar path that we did with the tire recycling by starting small; we will begin with aluminum, copper, brass, and electric motors. We are doing our best to ease into our growth. It is possible for companies to fail by growing too fast. Slow and steady, that is our approach. It has been three years since we started Green Tire Reclamation and thirteen years since taking over Broadway Tire. It was time and we are excited to bring more jobs and be able to pay people for their scrap metal.” The public can bring their aluminum cans and other scrap metals to the 25th Street entrance off of Fairview St.

The new “Metal Salvage Division” will bring between 5 and 10 new jobs to Anderson over the next three years. The owners, Anderson Mayor Kevin S. Smith and representatives from both Flagship and the Chamber of Commerce will gather for a Grand Opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, June 16th.
