The Anderson Symphony Orchestra begins their 48th season with a world premiere of a commissioned work by composer Rick Vale. Celebration is inspired by the City of Anderson?s 150th Birthday in 2015 and Indiana?s Bicentennial in 2016. A sound portrait of Indiana, this piece evokes imagery of Anderson with elements of the river, industry, and jazz. Its five movements highlight three solo instruments: Viola ? Katrin Meidel, Clarinet ? Becky Chappell and Trombone ? John Huntoon, and culminates in a concerto grosso. A pre-concert music talk will be presented by Dr. Christopher Holmes of the AU School of Music at 6:30 in the Marquee Room.
