SPECIAL PRESENTATION
"A Visit from C. S. Lewis"
Dr. Kevin Radaker as C. S. Lewis
Well-known Christian writer C. S. Lewis tells the story of his conversion to Christianity and then goes on to address such topics as love, grief, anxiety, and prayer.
- “Dr. Radaker masterfully captures the essence of C. S. Lewis—his wit, his humor, his heart, and his deep, thought-provoking Christian convictions. The performance was excellent in every way and greatly appreciated by our diverse audience, which included atheists, seekers and devout Christians.” –Tim Julian, Pastor of Worship and Arts, Meadow Park Church of God, Columbus, Ohio
- “Dr. Radaker’s excellent acting amply displayed the sparkling wit and intelligence of C. S. Lewis while offering a voice that was rich and strong. The dramatic presentation was so well done that persons might have thought that this was Lewis himself if they had not known better.” –Reverend Maxine Jones, Pastor of Adult Ministries, Church at the Crossing, Indianapolis, Indiana
- “After five days with Kevin Radaker in Beijing, I see him as a model of the Christian professor. Certainly one of his finest performances as C. S. Lewis was before 275 international school teachers in Beijing. His faithful and skillful presentation of C. S. Lewis’ words and thoughts ministered to those who have known grief and trials and inspired all of us to gracious and thoughtful service.” –Dr. Phil Bassett, Director of Teacher Training, International Schools of China, www.teachwithisc.com
ABOUT DR. RADAKER
Professor of English at Anderson University since 1987, Kevin Radaker (Ph.D., Penn State, 1986) began offering his portrayal of C. S. Lewis in the fall of 2009. Since then, he has presented his “Lewis” over 70 times in seven states. In October of 2011, he was engaged to offer his “Lewis” at an international conference for Christian teachers in Beijing, China. In addition, Professor Radaker has presented his highly acclaimed portrayal of Henry David Thoreau over 400 times throughout the United States since 1991. To honor the bicentennial of Thoreau’s birth, he has been engaged by the Thoreau Society to present his “Thoreau” on October 21 in Concord, Massachusetts, where Thoreau lived his entire life.
In the summer of 2016, Dr. Radaker began offering his new dramatic portrayal of Winston Churchill with the Oklahoma Chautauqua tour. Since then, he has offered his “Churchill” over 20 times in four states. Besides his teaching duties at Anderson University, which include several upper-division courses in American Literature, he has published articles on Thoreau, Herman Melville, Annie Dillard, and Wendell Berry in academic journals and encyclopedias.
